Once, you clear the written examinations, you are subjected to a strict PET and MST. PET stands for Physical Examination Test where your physical fitness is thoroughly examined while MST stands for Medical Standards Test where you are subjected to a thorough medical scrutiny.
All Physical endurance test do not carry any marks but will be of qualifying/elimination nature. So, you don't have to be the best here, but good enough to pass it with ease. PET involves 4 events :
1) 100 metre running : to be completed within 16 seconds for boys and 18 seconds for girls.
2) 800 metre long running : to be done within 3 minutes 45 seconds for boys and 4 minutes 45 seconds for girls.
3) Long Jump : You get 3 chances here. You're supposed to jump 3.5 metres, without disturbing the start line. For girls, it is 3.0 metres. It does need some practice even for athletes.
4) Shot Put : You're supposed to throw the shot put (weighing 7.26 kg) to atleast 4.5 metres. MInd you, there is ONLY ONCE Chance in Shot put.
The Commandant, DC and AC of the unit where PET will be conducted will guide you & motivate you during each test event. For shot put, there will be a demo given. So, practice at least one month before the PET and you should sail through with ease.
Once, you clear the PET, you are subjected to a strict Medical Standards Test where you are subjected to a thorough medical scrutiny.
Your body will be examined on the basis of a pre-informed criteria and if there is any correctible portion, they might give you a TR (Temporary Rejection) and ask you to get it corrected by a surgery. You can get it done and appear in the Remedical and if corrected, you will be recommended for the Interview. If the problem still persists, you can be handed a PR ( Permanent Rejection).
